The Philosophy of Philanthropy According to Strooband.

Incredible!  Absolutely incredible! It would appear Kevin Strooband is not satisfied with just being able to decide what animal shall live or die on any given day or which volunteer he will harass or who will he write up today for caring for , whatever. It is not enough this man is paid well in excess of $85k per annum plus bonuses, expenses and goodness only knows what else. NOW he thinks that he should determine how you and I should donate our hard earned money! click here for entire article

“Meanwhile, executive director Kevin Strooband said donors should not tie their philanthropy to their philosophy.

“Strooband said people who care about animals should support the humane society by donating, volunteering, fostering or adopting, instead of seeking memberships.”

“If people are interested in becoming members, there are lots of things they can do instead,” Strooband said, “and we haven’t seen those things transpire.””

The arrogance of this statement is only exceeded by its stupidity!

How dare you, Strooband, to hell with you and the Board of Directors on whose back you ride. “We haven’t seen these things transpire”, so you are going to hold animals hostage because the public isn’t dancing to the beat of your drum? Pompous, obnoxious, fools, all of you!

  1. I had the displeasure of quietly observing Kevin Strooband at the shelter on a number of occasions when I dropped in like a fly on the wall. Not at any time did he display one molecule of compassion toward any animal. Not only did he not acknowledge their presence, but did not acknowledge their existence. I have encountered his type in the past. Mr. Strooband is a classic bully whose behaviours and attitudes are continually being reinforced. He thrives in the limelight of his own greatness. He appears to not only warlord over the staff and volunteers but it would appear that the Board of Directors are intimidated by him as well. And as any bully he will have his adoring fan club, much as serial killers do. The claim at the meeting last night was that he was courageous to attend, and that he is essentially a pawn who takes direction from the board. Bull dung!! I strongly suspect that he calls all the shots. Here is my layperson’s ‘profile’ of this man: He is at the very least a narcissist, at the worst – a manipulating and skilled sociopath. I suspect that he derives great pleasure from the position of power he wields over the lives and deaths of the animals that are unfortunate enough to come under his influence. He is likely maliciously vindictive against anyone who dares to challenge his authority and is skilled at harassing, belittling or humiliating. I would under no circumstance leave an animal unsupervised in his care. I would strongly encourage the Board of Directors to ask him to voluntarily undergo a comprehensive psychological assessment to determine his suitability to work with vulnerable animals.

    • Hey Tessie,
Thank you for your comments. Strooband’s behaviour , attitudes and “professional” conduct has become a serious concern shared by many. Thank your for your insights.
